The deep pain that is felt at the death
The deep pain that is felt at the death of every friendly soul arises from the feeling that there is in every individual something which is inexpressible, peculiar to him alone, and is, therefore, absolutely and irretrievably lost ~ Arthur Schopenhauer

Native American story: Which wolf will win?
A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt.
He said, "I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart.
One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one."
The grandson asked him, "Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?"
The grandfather answered: "The one I feed."

on Love World-Grief obligation - the talmud
Do not be daunted by the enormity of the worlds grief. Do justly,

Never complain about anything
Make lists of positive aspects. Make lists of things you love — and never complain about anything. And as you use those things that shine bright and make you feel good as your excuse to give your attention and be who-you-are, you will tune to who-you-are, and the whole world will begin to transform before your eyes. It is not your job to transform the world for others — but it is your job to transform it for you. A state of appreciation is pure Connection to Source where there is no perception of lack.

Always in the Bardo
I will always live as if I am in the bardo, since I may not recognize the moment of passage. I will never treat the familiar as if it is what it seems to be, unless I get a really good point spread. I will in every way endeavor to use my paranoic tendencies without submitting to compulsion and obsession. I know that ultimately it is all my trip and there is no other, but that still doesn't mean that I'm going to take guff from some petty bureaucrat that is misusing his or her power. I will grant beingness to others and will tolerate unwanted realities even if they are stupid or dumb. I know that if I can only be convinced that something is absolutely totally inevitable, and unchangeable, I will learn to like it... or at least tolerate it. Oh yes, and I will try to do something to help alleviate the suffering of the Absolute, even if it makes me want to vomit. I submit this to myself in my presence on this the only day in this the only room. I've only got one question, "What would I like to do now?"

habit of concern for others' well-being
Dalai Lama
Making a habit of concern for others' well-being, and spending a few minutes on waking in the morning reflecting on the value of conducting our lives in an ethically disciplined manner, is a good way to start the day no matter what our beliefs or lack of them. The same is true of taking some time at the end of each day to review how successful in this we have been.

practice - beauty and the now
Can't remember now where I saw this quote, I liked it though:
"You practice not to reach a goal, but to create beauty. You practice
not for the future, but for a more ecstatic now".

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche - basic goodness
Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
"We possess what is known as basic goodness. Then we develop an overlay of unnecessary tricks and occupations. We develop little tricks to shield ourselves from being embarrassed or from feeling too painful or naked. Those are habitual tendencies, but they are not fundamental. They are simply temporary habitual tendencies. It's as though you had a building with nice, white, smooth plaster walls. If you can't stand the plain white walls, you might decide to put colorful wallpaper on top of them to cheer yourself up. The habitual tendencies we're talking about here are like the wallpaper that you put on but can be taken off. The paper doesn't go all the way through the wall; it's not that deeply ingrained. It's a veneer of some kind, called habitual tendencies- which have to be renounced, definitely. Seeing the basic goodness in oneself and seeing the sadness of the setting-sun possibilities, one is willing to make some kind of sacrifice. We can take off the wallpaper, take off the veneer." -CTR

Transcendence and embodiment
The feminine is characterized by a natural movement towards down-and-in, in contrast to the masculine orientation of up-and-out. The masculine movement could be called transcendence; the feminine, embodiment.

SPREADING THE RA-RA
Below is the article from Danielle LaPorte's blog whitehottruth.com
SPREADING THE RA-RA,
right now:
There are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness.
Someone you haven’t met yet is already dreaming of adoring you.
Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life.
Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God’s children.
A farmer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, “nourish them.”
Someone wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you. Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favourite food is, and treat you to a movie. Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give you — for free.
Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on.
The next great song is being rehearsed.
Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth.
Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.
